The commands:
By adding tamariki mā to the end of your command you're asking the students to repeat after you. If you don't say tamariki mā then students should remain doing the last command.
Basic version: 2-4 commands
Intermediate version: 4-8 commands
Difficult version: 8-14 commands
E noho tamariki mā! (sit)
E tū tamariki mā! (stand)
E kanikani tamariki mā! (dance)
E peke! (jump)
E oma, tamariki mā! (run)
E huri! (turn)
E takahia, tamariki mā! (stamp)
Ō ringaringa ki runga, tamariki mā! (lift your arms)
Pakipaki mai, tamariki mā! (clap)
E hope, tamariki mā! (hands on hips)
E takoto, tamariki mā! (lie down)
Pūkana mai, tamariki mā! (haka face)
E moe! tamariki mā(sleep)
E oho, tamariki mā! (wake up)
Follow up activity:
Get students to draw a picture of one of the commands of their choosing (try and make sure all commands are covered so you can display them around the class) E.g. kanikani, get them to draw a picture of them dancing then write the word (kanikani) below their picture.
